Crack the Second Code: Methylated DNA Sequencing for Epigenetic Analysis

The DNA methylation of cytosines in the promoter regions has been shown to produce selective gene inactivation. Such methylation has been termed the "second code" - an additional layer of information superimposed on the DNA sequence that determines many phenotypic attributes.

Eton Bioscience now starts to offer methylated DNA sequencing service to help you crack the Second Code.

Figure: Top panel shows DNA sequence after bisulfite conversion. Note that base C is unchanged due to methylation protection. Bottom panel shows that all Cs are converted to Ts by bisulfite treatment.

How to place a methylated DNA sequencing order

Step 1: If you are not currently our customer, do a one-time online registration;

Step 2: To place an order, log into your account and click on "Place Order";

Step 3: In the online order form, under "Service Type", select "SeqMethylation". Also, under "DNA Type", select "gDNA"

Step 4: Fill out the rest of the order form with sample names and primer names. For each sample, we will conduct two sequencing reactions, one to the untreated template and the other, treated template.

Step 5: Submit the order and have the samples ready for pickup. For out of San Diego customers, you may FedEx the samples to us at 5820 Oberlin Dr., STE. 100, San Diego, CA 92121
